This Poem I Know I Hate

Details are the things
that disappear when you die
so come and get them.

If you’ve ever experienced difficulty
distinguishing whether or not you
love
or hate something
like a painting or a song
or a person, then you know what I mean.

For instance:

I love the intensity.  It’s the only reason
that I care.  Also:
I hate the
Intensity.  It’s embarrassing.  Don’t take things
so seriously.

Love the sloppiness.  And I hate
the sloppiness.

I hate the trite,
careless words.  You can
do better than that.  Also:  I love the trite, careless
words.  It’s so easy to belt, to relate to.  Everyone
can sing it.

I love how young it sounds.
I hate how young it sounds.

I’m saying that

Things will change.
