Three Letter Poems

L.E.D.

Listening exacts duty
Like empiric dirges
Lord Ecstacy of Doubt

Liberation exalts death
Liberated ex-presidents and daughters
Liberate Estonian darlings

Lazily executed dalliances
Lift entropic detritus
Lost everyone, didn’t we

B.A.D.

Black hand, bling bling, blow by
Anonym, acrid abdomen
Delicious domestic dementia

Brooding beheaded bitches
Always after acid
Devil ray dimpling dawn

Bacteria bandied barelegged
Antidazzled as an atheist
Dissembling deities

The Unexplained Events

Listen, it was wild.  Brief glimpses of
everything.  Flashes of koi and beasts so hungry
they won’t go without you.  I felt nothing sexual.

Neverland was never mentioned, but the missing went
somewhere.  Mimicking each other, pantomiming panic,
in and out of the courtyard, in the man-made lake, behind the lazy
waterfall with its lazy splashes, we looked everywhere,
we found nothing.

I took this in.  Tried to make a connection.  Eyes steady
as statues.  Flashes of footprints, expert
hoodlums, bouquets of nothing.  How did it feel?

Sleep went, followed by food.  We didn’t need them.  Found
the feminine
adaptation
somewhere.  We had to.

I’m not explaining myself well.  I was ravenous, but
I felt healed.

I felt healed, but
I was still blind.

I was still blind, but
when it chased us,

I ran.

How The War Ends

Higgs-boson, mountains
of peace, pieces of
the dark and dangerous secret, the preference
for bloodlust,
the longing for everything
to turn on itself

We lost something.
The salt on our skin dried
up and the animals licked it.
So we met up with some folks
who worshipped plants
like God, like each
had it’s own plant
spirit bearing important
messages, like wise
aliens. These
people had a lot to say
so we listened for awhile.
They fed us a few meals, and
they made the best
salads.

Higgs-boson, mountains
of peace, pieces of
the dark and dangerous secret, the preference
for bloodlust,
the longing

Battle Cries

Glad we’re up and glad
we’re here, we say, but When? we
ask, Now! they say, now, now
now

That was how they’d always answer.

I split not long after.  My health was
poor, and all my memories
were beading in my brain
so

I went
to a barren hovel  on the Barren
River Lake where nothing could touch
me.

Stood out back and watched
the woods.

Heard battle cries and

saw an owl,
bulbous and magnificent,
get battered by many small birds.

They kept swooping down.
He just sat there.

I split not long after.  My brain was
cheerless and blue, and my body
was beading in the heat
so

I came
back here
to the Land of Actors
where I keep asking When?

when nobody answers

Evil Poem

So what then if the evil
never does arrive?  What
of the fear that
was fearing it?  All coming evil
did land here.
Not evil, exactly, but carriers
                                   of evil.

Get big, they said,
take a chance here.
All chances happened and
all minds dived
and came up and dived
and came up
until they caught something
and burned it         alive

All minds divided.

So tell me what you thought about the Narrows.
Was it worth seeing?  And would you go back there?
Was the air very dry?  Did you go there alone
or with somebody else?

The answers are different every time

so I keep asking.

Picket Panic at the Disco Show

We’d rather love it than leave it,
if forced to choose.
Love it when it gets really, really
                            bad.

We love disaster.

We went on and on like
drones, and
now it’s on.

It’s shit.  Like
staring in the mirror.
Like a puddle in the snow.

This is loopable Zen.

We never minded our
grammar.  It didn’t matter.
We were Man and
anti-Man.
We all got older and

 f a t t e r.

Death Valley gave us cancer some
years after
we’d been living
like actors.

This is the best
lightening storm.

Stand by.

Glory Be The Breeze

The trees if you’re listening
move at eighteen different speeds
each with it’s own
frangible sound.
Here’s how it started:
At the start of the Forest Age, they were
captured
during raids.  Each was made
a slave and chained with roots
sewn into ground.  Forced to
give shade,
no more walking
around.

In the first year, they tried time
and again
will themselves
free, but
after Christmas happened, most
surrendered
to stand
up and just
let it happen.

Attached, by that time
their roots had started to feed
them, and they liked
not having to
go out and gather
food to survive.  Now,
they could save energy.  Now,
if the earth ate,
they ate.

They ate the sun, too.
It gave plenty.  They took in
the light
and gave it back
as matter.

They never took lovers.
It didn’t matter.
They got stronger and larger and
fatter.  They all grew flowers,
in one form
or another.  The pistils
made seeds they could
scatter, and the seeds, they
made others
like mothers and
fathers, made
               brothers.

Then the wind started helping.
Air taking itself out
for a ride
lent a hand and spread
the seeds faster,
made them wave
back and forth
to each other
like a sea
of mailmen

like exotic

dancers.
