In Your Company

At night, the rain is louder, and it lives
...in a chamber with your voice, and I sit
with the sound all around me and in me,
...and I let it go through me. At night, we
use our voices differently and it sounds
...like louder than secrets, like whispered
wisdom, and the rain knows, and we know
...it, too. At night, the birds are silent, but
they're watching, and we don't mind that
...they're watching, we are watching, too,
and all of us see it and feel it and hear it, so
...the trees become beds and beds become
dirt and skies become dreams in these hours
...without sleep. At night, we are all buzzing
with the wisdom of the rain and we are
...growing and dripping right out of our
selves. At night, we stay dry and only one
...of us breathes at a time, we know to stay
empty if we want to truly listen to the rain.
...At night, there are no memories, only
moments and moments keep going and all
...of us are coming, without anything, only
sound within silence, and inside the silence
...we are all watching, but only one of us
is breathing and we know how to listen to
...the rain.
